For each race in Royal Derby you're given a choice of six horses, each with different odds. It's up to you to pick one you think will win based on the conditions, the horse and the jockey. Unfortunately, you don't get a huge amount of stats and data to go off, so picking a horse often feels like a bit of a shot in the dark.
Once the race begins your horse will be marked with an arrow and you will be able to watch the race 'live'. This can be get quite exciting, although the races in Royal Derby are pretty short.
